You answer needs to be at least 8 lines and in paragraphs
Lean thinking is a methodology related to business, in which the goal is to set up the activities and tasks in such a way that increases the value or benefits that are provided to the individual, especially by eliminating any kind of waste. The methodolgy aims at increasing the overall output and maximise value to the customer by identitifying and escaping any waste(in the form of unnecessary transportation, costs, etc.), that might increase efforts, prices, etc. It aims at the optimal use of energy, resources and everything that is needed to generate the output. The business applying this methodology practise the lean principles.
A business/organization that apply the lean principles and minimises wastes and provides maximum value to its customers is called lean system. It uses the lean approach, which helps to identify and also eliminate any kind of waste. Lean system mainly aims at providing the best value to its customers.
There are many types of wastes that an organization can eliminate to achieve the optimal output. They are :
* Defects : Producing goods that can not be used is a waste of time and energy.
* Over-production : Producing more products than required, is a type of waste. Demand can be studied to eliminate such wastes.
* Transportation : Unnecessary movement of people or things results in wastage of energy and time, which should be avoided.
* Inventory : Having more inventory than what is required may result in extra warehouse expenses, which is a waste of money.
* Extra processing : Adding more steps than what is required in the production process, or doing anything extra to the product than required is the wastage of time and energy.
* Motion : Unnecessary movement of people/things, within the production area should be avoided for less wastage.
* Waiting : Waiting time is the result of an inefficient production process.
* Skills : Talent of employees that are unused and underutilized is a type of wastage.
Some examples of wastes would include setting up the units in the production place that would require less movement of the workers, if such units are placed far away from each other, workers would waste time and energy in the movements required. Another example is when an organization produces more outputs than what is demanded, and the extra units do not get sold and get damaged.
