RFID tags are being increasingly used by companies such as Macy's, Walmart, and Home Depot. Identify an additional company that uses RFIDs and write a one-page paper that describes the company's specific application of RFIDs. What are the two differences between an RFID and a UPC system?
Amazon is one of the many companies that uses RFID technology. Amazon go is a convenience stores that is operated by Amazon in United States. In these stores the customers can just walk in, grab what they want and walk out of the door. There is no need of standing in long checkout lines. RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification and amazon uses RFID to detect when the shopper has taken an item from the shelf and accordingly charges him. RFID chips are attached to objects and can be scanned with wireless technology at a distance hence helps in tracking inventory items. Whenever the items are passed through RFID sensors then items are added to the shoppers cart.
Difference between RFID and UPC system are :-
