Q # 7: What is a mixed stimulant-psychedelic drug and how does it differ from LSD? Compare and contrast the symptoms of an entactogen and an empathogen,
Q # 8: Describe the effects of MDMA metabolism and the length of psychedelic drug effects on an individual.
Q # 9: How can MDMA alter serotonin and dopamine neurotransmission? What kinds of changes happen to the brain as a result of MDMA use?
Q # 10: Explain how recreational use of MDMA, PCP, ketamine, and dizocilpine can cause dissociative disorders? Can any of these drugs be instrumentally used to treat psychological disorders?
Ans. 7
The mixed stimulant psychedelic drugs induce a reality-altering experience and lead us to the state of hallucinations and sensory distortions. These drugs effect nervous system and midbrain and prefrontal cortex so that we lose our control over senses and perception. The primary difference between mixed stimulant psychedelics and LSD is the effect on serotonin and the trip length. The mixed stimulant drugs last for 4-7 hours while LSD lasts for 6-11 hours.
The terms entactogen and empathogen are different which used to describe a class of psychoactive drugs. The empathogen creates emotional connectedness and empathy while entactogen creates serenic, stimulant and antidepressant effects.
Ans. 8
The MDMA is a synthetic psychoactive drug with a chemical structure similar to the stimulant. The MDMA exerts its primary effect on the brain on neurons that use chemical serotonin to communicate with neurons. The MDMA stimulates the release of serotonin so it enhanced the sense of pleasure and self-confidence and increased energy. The effective time period of these symptoms lasts for 6 to 11 hours in normal condition.
Ans. 9
The MDMA stimulates the release of serotonin and dopamine so that person experiences improved mood, pleasure and increased energy. The psychedelic effect of MDMA includes a feeling of peacefulness, empathy, and acceptance.
Ans. 10
The recreational use of such drugs creates problems similar to those experienced by cocaine users. MDMA damages neurons which release serotonin so that user feel confusion, depression, insomnia, memory loss etc.
Some researchers show that the use of these drugs causes dissociative disorder because of the multiple damages in the brain cells.
These drugs used as a recreational drug which helps to cure social isolation, anxiety, and depression. some users experienced increase the sense of pleasure and peacefulness so they used for bipolar disorder and paranoia.
