In your opinion, which of the three factors of General Deterrence (Certainty, Severity, or Swiftness) is most important to Beccaria's equation? Why? can you explain in 400 words?
In my opinion, certainty is most important to Beccaria's equation. Certainty means that whenever a person will commit crime then he will hey punishment for sure. This way it can be ensure that law is enforced in the society for the protection of people. Certainty is very important as it will create fear in the mind of criminals or offenders as they know that whatever wrong act or crime they will do, the law will punish them and they can't escape from it.
If law would be lenient then criminals will be free to do anything and they will violate all laws. The concept of certainty is introduced to regulate criminal activities and to punish them from time. It is necessary because it will give lessons to other criminals and offenders. It will also compel criminals to think many times before committing crime.
In law of every country, all law makers are agree with that certainty is most important part of implementing the law enforcement. Here the actual meaning of certainty is for sure that indicates a message to criminals and offenders that if they will try to violate law, rules or regulations then they will get punishment.
Countries where law is not much they face too much criminal activities, the crime rates increases and people live in threat there. For example :- Pakistan is the country where certainty is missing from there legal system as terrorists are freely roaming here and there.
Terrorist don't have any fear and they consider themselves superior than the government as well the law. Whole world is criticising Pakistan because they have given space to terrorists and criminals and they are not only threat to Pakistan but for World as they commit many international attacks like attacked in world Trade Center.
