SSA retirement benefits, disability benefits, and survivors benefits. Explain all benefits and how it works
Social Security Association is a United States agency which performs the social activities by giving the retirement benefits, survival benefits and disability benefits to the residents and non residents of the United States.
Retirement benefits- To have the retirement benefits, amount will be paid through the payroll taxes from the employee’s monthly income. Retirement amount was based on the amount that which employees pay during their working years. This amount will be helpful to the employees in their old age. People who born after the 1929 are eligible to this benefit and these benefits can be collected when the person crosses 62 years. Suppose if the person collects the amount before full retirement age i.e. 65 will not get more amounts.
Disability Benefits- If any person was removed from the job due any illness factor before their retirement then disability benefits can be claimed. Main eligibility criterion for this benefit was person should have the major disability like that person cannot work due to injury, polio and major accidents etc. To have this benefit person should not work for at least two years. These kinds of people can apply for the disability benefit and their family members can collect that money for the person survival. Disabled person can apply for this benefit if he/she already had Medicare insurances.
Survivors benefits- There will be dependent people in the family on the working person like spouse or small children then this benefit can be claimed. If spouse had no working experience can also eligible for this benefit. It was similar to the normal retirement benefit if the survivors collect the money before retirement age will collect fewer amounts. After the retirement period survivors can collect 50% of the benefits. Sometimes unexpectedly employees will die before their retirement then amounts will be given to the survivors. There are monthly survivor benefits to the widowers of any age, young children and also the unmarried girl child are also eligible to this benefit.
