Q.1

As an innovation director at a chemical company :

  • I would first stress on the important and essential products that the company should produce at the times of this crisis type situation, though not necessarily an out of the box thinking the thing that will help our organization stand out with a difference is that we will be strengthening the supply chain of the essential goods by the purpose of not "merely profit" but to give more focus to removing shortage bottlenecks of the necessary goods and products.
  • Some of the goods that we will tend to focus our attention on are: Producing sanitizers, since a surge in the demand of the hand sanitizers have gone up, a market shortage of the same has been created with many entities charging heavy prices and supplying low-quality stuff. Our company will intend to produce good quality hand sanitizers which will be supplied at the market appropriate price and the preference will be given to the most needed sectors and people like Paramedic and Medical staffs and the hospitals and a selected amount of the batch produced will be donated free of cost to the public servants like police and hospital staffs who are the front line warriors in this pandemic situation.
  • Since a lot of sanitization, work is being done with fumigation, we will tend to enhance the production of chemicals which are needed for this large scale fumigation work and help supply these products to the public works department who are in dire need for these chemicals.
  • Another area wherein the supply chain bottlenecks are occurring due to the production shocks around the world is due to the dearth of production of necessary life-saving drugs fro patients such as hydroxychloroquine, although there is no proven cure for Korona, there are some drugs which are in huge demand due to their proven effects to lower the intensity o the symptoms, I would focus on strengthening the productions and sourcing chain to help start the production of these necessary drugs or the raw materials for the production of these drugs.
