  • According to humanistic perspective,anxiety is normal part of life and human development and be resolved through therapy.Since this perspective focuses on the fact that each individual has the ability and the potential to solve their own problems and build a stong personality,the problem of anxiety can also be solved by the individual through their efforts.
  • Anxiety arises when people stop looking at themselves honestly and accept themselves they way they are.Lack of unconditional positive regard during childhood leads to harsh self standards and expecting too much out of oneself,thereby creating unnecessary pressure leading to self threatening judgments which causes anxiety.
  • Rogers client centered therapy is used to treat anxiety by focusing on creating an accepting environment for the person,with conditional positive regard and empathy to understand the clients thoughts and feelings.Making people realize that they have the potential and can independently handle their problems by making the right choices,is the main focus of the therapy.
  • The person needs to hold themselves in high regard,to develop a trust in their own ability,come out of unrealistic expectations,accept themselves the way the are,only then they will realize their true potential.
