Organization development means a clear plan that can change everything from top to bottom to improve efficiency. Generally organization implements this organizational development to improve effective use of resources, to develop productivity, to identify best way to solve problems of the organization.

Intervention means set of related activities which are useful to improve efficiency. There are different methods of OD interventions

Organization-Focused OD intervention methods are listed below.

Strategic planning which is designed to set the long term objectives

Confrontation meetings which are arranged to solve conflicts within the organization.

Survey feedback   which is designed to gather the useful information from all members to improve the organization.

Work redesign, this invention is useful to change the work.

Culture transformation, which is useful to change the assumptions about right and wrong way of doing work.

Group focused OD intervention methods are listed below

Third party intervention which is useful to improve the relationships of groups

Work flow planning which is useful to design the work between different components of the organization

Cross functional training, this invention is useful to train the people to work in another functional area.

Scheduling planning which is useful to schedule the work properly

Intergroup conflict management, which is useful to manage the conflicts between different groups/

Individual focused intervention methods

Training , this is designed to provide sufficient knowledge, skill to doing job.

Coaching which is designed to guide the employees which dealing with work related problems

Performance appraisal which is designed to identify the work performance of the employees and providing them correct feedback to improve their performance

Value clarification which is designed to determine the individual value.

Life and career planning, this is useful to employees to plan their career well.

Process improvement , this intervention useful to change the way of doing particular job or work

Individual goal setting which is useful to improve the work performance by setting certain goals to individual people and improve the relationship between employee and immediate superior.

All the OD interventions which are listed above are very important every organization and it is very difficult to choose only one among them. But according to my opinion, performance appraisal is the ,most effective intervention because, organization development always based on employee performance. If they performed well and they are committed, organization can get successes. Remaining things will be happened automatically.

Example

If a company following all intervention like goal setting, training, strategic planning, work design etc… but it is not concentrate on employee performance, it will get poor productivity and it will face losses
