International Health Economics Association(iHEA) was formally founded on may 10,1994 under the leadership of Tom Getzen who served as the first president and with the support of Joseph Newhouse,Alan Maynard,Chuck Hall,Mark Pauly and Michael Morrisey,who served as the founding directors have been held.

The associated member supporters of iHEA include the President David Bishai,past President Adam Wagstaff,President Elect-Winnie-Yip.

The mission of iHEA is to increase communication among health economists, foster a higher standard of debate in the health and health care systems,and assist young researchers at the start of their careers.

March 2020 ,they have established a new social link group,called the "COVID-19 research group".

Previous Presidents of iHEA includes Adam Wagstaff,Terkel Christiansen,Anne Mills,Guillem Lopez,Uwe Reinhardt,Jane Hall,Bengt Jonsson,Peter Zweifel,Richard Scheffler,Frans Rutten,Mark V.Pauly,Alan Maynard,Joseph R.Newhouse,Thomas E.Getzen.

The initial activities of iHEA were limited to the annual Arrow Award, distribution of existing health economics journals,and the annual HEAL newsletter.

iHEA services includes demand and utilization of health services,economic evaluation of health and care interventions,evaluation of policy ,programs and health system performance, health care financing and expenditures,new developments in methodology,organization of health care markets,pre-congress and sponsored sessions,production of health, health behaviours and policy interventions, social events,special sessions,health insurance.
