Gorilla Glass

  • It is a brand of specialized toughened glass developed and manufactured by Corning, now in its fourth generation
  • It is thin, light and damage-resistant.
  • The glass gains its surface strength, ability to contain flaws, and crack-resistance by being immersed in a hot potassium salt ion-exchange bath.
  • They are used for material for a variety of smartphones and other consumer electronics devices like portable media players, portable computer displays, and some television screens.
  • During its manufacture, the glass is toughened by ion exchange. The material is immersed in a molten alkaline potassium salt at a temperature of approximately 400 °C (750 °F), wherein smaller sodium ions in the glass are replaced by larger potassium ions from the salt bath. The larger ions occupy more space and thereby create a surface layer of high residual compressive stress at the surface, giving the glass surface increased strength, ability to contain flaws, and overall crack-resistance, making it resistant to damage from everyday use.

Xensation Glass

  • It is a brand of specialized toughened glass developed and manufactured by Schott which provide upto 20% higher bending properties.
  • The floated alumino-silicate cover glass Xensationglass provides an outstanding level of mechanical impact and bending strength, as well as high resistance to scratches.
  • It increase scratch resistance and anti-reflectivity.
  • The glass is said to be optimized for mass production, allowing large quantities of the product to be quickly rolled without sacrificing strength, while potentially lowering production costs in the process.

Dragontrail Glass

  • It is manufactured by Asahi Glass Co., is an alkali-aluminosilicate sheet glass engineered for a combination of thinness, lightness and damage-resistance, similar to the Corning's Gorilla Glass.
  • The material's primary properties are -high strength

                                                                        -allowing thin glass without fragility
-high scratch resistance; and its hardness

  1. All of the glass are used in making smatphones coer various electronic devices
  2. Thay all are generally made up of alumino-silicate materila differing in their properties based on the strength ,toughness and scratach resistance properties.

A Ti-doped sapphire laser emits at 800 nm and is mode-locked. It consists of a Ti-sapphire rod with refractive index 1.4 that is 10 cm long within a cavity that is 2 m in length (the laser pulses propagate in air except when passing through the rod). You can neglect the reflectivity of the rod surfaces, assuming they are coated with perfect anti-reflective coatings. The spectral width of the laser is 200 THz. What is the resulting pulse width, pulse...
