In your own words, describe what you have learned about hypothesis testing and hypothesis testing for the mean. Give one or more examples of how you could use this information to test a problem. Be specific on what the problem would be about.

Hypothesis testing is the branch of statistics which helps us to arrive a criteria of descison making.

A hypothesis is a statement or assertion or a conjecture,the validity of which is yet to be examined.

In hypothesis testing first we set a null hypothesis and the hypothesis against it is alternative one. after which we set our statistics required to test the hypothesis. Then , after complete statistical analysis we find the value of statistics at given level of significance and then compare this value of statistics from table value of statistics at alpha level of significance and if the calculated value is greater than tabulated value then, we reject our null hypothesis, otherwise we may not reject our null hypothesis. So we can say that by testing of hypothesis we are able to set the fact that how much amount of give estimated data is valid or true about the population.

HYPOTHESIS TESTING FOR MEAN

In hypothesis testing of mean we are supposed to test the mean of sample of data i.e. whether it is valid for all or not .

from the sample of a llarger population with mean and s.d. 3.25 cms and 2.61 cms respectively.
