- Do you have an opinion or suggestion for how to ethically allocate scare resources for Covid-19? Should there be ethical values for rationing health resources in a pandemic?

Solutions

Expert Solution

In the current scenario there is a major scarcity of resources. The most important resources can be the daily needed items like floor, rice, vegetables or fruits.

Also they can be medical equipments like masks, gloves, sanitizers and basic medicines.

To ethically allocate these resources we can do certain things -

1. Don't let the richer people buy more quantity of products. Let the resources reach to middle class and poor people.

2. Keep a check on stores that they don't sell these products at a higher rate.

3. Make necessary adjustments that due to lock down resources reach to all the shops of all the areas.

For health resources -

1. Every citizen has the right to get mask and sanitizers and basic medicines which should be distributed as per need and not as per who can pay more.

2. All medical shops should maintain basic ethical values of not selling at a higher price.

3. People with power should not get more resources thus making them available for general public.
