1. Why do you think Edward Snowden made the decision to come forward? What was his motivation? Was he compelled to blow the whistle on the surveillance program or should he have looked the other way? How would you have reacted if you had discovered the extent of the Prism surveillance program?

Answer: Edward Snowden used to work in NSA as security consultant in start of 2013.Later in june after leaving his job, he flew to Hong Kong and declassified or revealed various classified documents NSA to journalists, Which were about US government's surveillance programmes which included even some of its allies countries like Germany, UK etc.

He considered himself as Whitsleblower rather than leaker of document as the sole motivation beacuse of which he decided to take sich step is to make public are of what is being done in their name and which is against them, against their right to Privacy. For this later he got RIGHT LIVELIHOOD AWARD.

In one of his interviews he recalled that when you get to work in positions of privilege access then you get know the things of broader scale than a normal employee and see things that are disturbing. But when you try to talk about such with others or seniors then you get reply like its their normal state of business although in reality it's frequent use it rather a abuse. Then you often being ignored.

Then he realised these things should be determined by public not by someone who's hired by government.

So by this interview it looks like he looked for other options as well but he got no answer hence he decided to blow whistle.

If i would have discovered abou prism surveillance programme and it extents, which leads to violations of fundamental rights of public in the name of national security. Then as Citizen to the country its my duty and right to raise voice which can further harm us.Fistly should raise voice inside organisation with senior officers then if it would not have been resolved then should take further required steps. As Right to Privacy is basic right to life and liberty and should not be compromised.

Hope it helps!
