2. What are some considerations under which free speech cannot be considered a protection in a school or educational situation. Give examples and state why.
Freedom of speech is guaranteed by almost all the countries to their citizens but they are more effective in socio-political areas. When it comes to private organizations, one cannot take sides and exercise one’s freedom of speech as they wish because each institution has its own rules which protect the interests of that institution. These private institutions, whether they are schools or companies restrict their members whether they are students or employees, insist them in following the institution’s rules and regulations and warns them not to involve in exercising their freedom of speech which would mar the name of the institution. If a student campaigns for a cause and gather students to fight for that cause, most probably social or political cause, the student needs to get prior permission from the educational institutions. If they do it without that, they will be considered as not following the rules and regulations of the institution.
