There are many Bible verses calling Christians to show respect to others. For example, Philippians 2:3-4 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” How might a teacher ethically and respectfully respond to families who do not value education?
Foundation of a Christian life is laid when an individual follows the foot steps of Jesus Christ, who himself was a great teacher, and set aside an example how to lead by setting example of one's life and then teaching about it. It is important to have empathetic approach in a teacher, when responding to such families, to understand the real cause why they do not value education. Then the teacher could respond by stressing on the importance of education in their children's life, and how good education could transform their life and the importance to the society of which they are part of. They should be encouraged to promote their children in learning activities of both class room and life. While, responding to such families, it is important that teacher should be empathetic, and should acknowledge and accept this difference, so that there's an effective communication that would persuade the parents to value education.
