How does increased globalization affect U.S. managers, labor leaders, and workers in a unionized workplace? Does labor law need to be reformed because of these effects? If so, how?
United state is one of the world best developed country and united nation has developed in every sector. Increased globalization is affecting all segments of the united state workforce from managers, labor leaders, and workers in a unionized workplace. Outsourcing is occurring at a higher rate due to globalization to drive labor costs down so companies in the united state can maximize their benefits. Because of this jobs are being outsourced as well; outsourced to countries with a lower skilled workforce with lower pay. This causes barriers for united state . managers for many reasons including communication skills and professional and efficiency cultural differences. Labor leaders are affected because they cannot negotiate for the worker’s wages and benefit to keep the work here. The national labor relations act may need to be amended to be more suited for the rapidly changing globalized market. It is currently best suited for a domestic workforce and is not sufficient to meet the labor requirements because of the increasing expenditure and changing life styles. Concentrating on these specific subjects could allow unions to penetrate a workplace by proving value to workers and gaining trust with their respective employers. By taking a long-run point of view that is flexible to the needs of both the employer and the employees, unions could become more prominent in the workplace.
