My sister's teenager has decided not to attend college in favor of joining the stage crew for a touring rock band. What advice can I give my sister? Thank you, A. Grand

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer-

Teenagers are notoriously known for being rebellious and irrational. During these years, it can be exceptionally difficult to communicate with them on topics concerning their safety and security. The main reason for this is their raging hormones, peer pressure, insecurities, and other societal pressures that they have to endure. Therefore, it is important to be patient with them and understand their needs. The parent in question should be willing to listen and be considerate to put their point across effectively. If the parent wishes to convince her daughter to join college instead of joining the stage crew for a rock band, she should be willing to understand her daughter's views and desires. Maintaining a calm demeanor and being assertive at the same time will not only lead to effective communication but will also help dictate authority without coming across as harsh. If all else fails, the parent in question can also resort to counseling for her daughter and herself.
