• I personally like Captain Beatty. He is an enigmatic bad guy; he's aggressive and threatening, but layered. He reveals that he has read books, that he has been moved to the point of being "ready to blow up the world...destroy authority", and then he turned his back on those same books because, according to him, "What traitors books can be! You think they are backing you up and they turn on you."
• What makes Beatty such a powerful force in this novel is that, actually, he makes a decent point in his anti-book ravings. Literature is contradictory. It is confusing. It is treacherous, it will mix you up, it will force you to answer questions you never wanted to ask, and it will quite often pull the rug out from under your feet.
• Second would be Montag,his character arc (journey) goes from being Nazi-like, burning books, to becoming one of the book people.He is a dynamic character as he goes through a metamorphsis from a heartless book burner to a philosophical learner.
