Bohr model of the atom is defined as the atom as a series of
energy levels called as principle quantum shells, which are
progressing at greater distance from the nucleus. When first shell
is hold up to two electrons, then it is full and electrons start to
fill the next shells.
When we know atomic number for an atom, then start by putting
electrons in to innermost shell which is n=1 shell, when this is
full, then next shell accept 8 electrons. At n=3 energy level that
can hold up to 18 electrons, but accepts it will only 8 ...
For neon,
We know that the atomic number is equal to number of electrons. And
there are 10 electrons in a neon atom. According to Bohr model, two
electron shells surrounding the nucleus, which has 2 electrons in
the n=1 shell and 8 electrons in the n=2 shell.
Electron configuration of a neutral neon atom: 1s2 2s2 2p6
Valence electrons: 8
