Is California a Democratic state? Why or why not?

Till date the current politics of the state of California has always proven as complex involving a number of entrenched interests.

But Yes California is a Democratic state today because the candidates regardless of what party they belong(including several nominated candidates from each party) contest the ballot and those with the highest number of votes are chosen and incase any one candidate fails to have a majority on the first ballot, a runoff between the two highest scoring candidates occurs. Untill 1992 presidential election, it was a semi Republican state but the advent of Latino population has helped make California a reliably Democratic and since then the population started voting for Democratic Party and Democrats have been winning election since then.

.Moreover among total of 9 lakh registered voters about 43% among them are Democrats while only 23 % constitute the Republicans and 19% constituting others which is enough to argue that it is a democratic state.
