Simply what does the word 'transportation' means.It means the movement of people or any goods from one place to another.An efficient transportation system is very essential in the day to day movements of world.Every nation or states has its own public transportation system.The public transportation system includes road transport.water transport and air transport.Public transportation contributes a lot to the develoment of a nation in tyerms of economic development,industrial development and also social and cultural developments.The public transport systemis generally a collection and distriibution process.The type and form of public transportation of a nation is depends upon the travel needs of the people.

Role of an efficient public transportation system in the economy of a nation

• An efficient public transportation contributes the develoment of industries which producing products which needs quick marketing.As an example we can take the case of perishable or easily decaying things such as vegetables.fishes,fruits etc.If there is an efficient public transportation ,the farmers from the grass root level who does not have private vehicles can take there items to the market as soon as possible at low transportation cost.This can be applicable in the case of industries also.The industrial products can be transported to longer distances as soon as possible at low coat if they use public transportation.If the proper movement of industrial products takes place at the right time this will ensure industrial growth .Industrial growth can contribute more to a nation's economy.Transport helps in increasing the demand of goods .New customers at new places will contacted and the products will get introduced before them.Thus the markets can become nationally or internatially established thgrough transport.Thus the industries and goods in a particular region will get acceptance in other places.Industrial development will lead to the economic development of that particular region.

• It shoul be well coordinated which there shoul be proper timing proper scheduling in its operation and it should be properly followed.
• It should connect productive places.
• It should connect very rural areas to the important places which means the areas in which the government offices,hospitals ,educational institutions,markets etc are situated so that the people in the rural areas also can easily acess all these facilities if they are in urgent need of it.
• Public transportation shoul be available at any time throughout a day to full emergency needs of the people.
• Provide public transport at relatively low charges so that it can be affordable by the economically backward people also.
• The public transportation vehicles like buses should be properly checked and well mantained so that to avoid unnecessary delay or accidents.
• Ensure the safety of people at any time of travel especially in night time or when there is a rush in the buses.
• Provide more number of buses in one route within a specidied time interval so that to avoid rush in the buses.
• Provide well arrange seating facilities in buses so that the senior citizens ,pregnant ladies and ladies with small babies can travel safely.The staffs should make sure that the right people is using this reserved seats.
