In walter lippmanns book Public Opinion, what does he mean that every stereotype has a blindspot?
Lippmanns use the term stereotype to represent the prejudiced knowledge that people have about about different ideas.
According to Lippmann, all the people have their own stereotypes and understanding about them. People have different views & thoughts about a particular idea.
According to Lippmann, there are so many terms about which every individual have different understanding & ultimately, nobody has the actual idea. This what Lippmann termed as stereo types & that's why everybody has their own stereo types. He believed that if the world would be unprejudiced then all this information & knowledge can be easily manipulated.
He didn't believe in generalization of behaviour of any human & it is right every person behaviour changes with every person. Nobody has one view.
Every stereotype has a blind spot simply means that there is always going be one part of concept that nobody focuses on. The piece of information that will not be used. Probably, which can simplify the whole concept.
