Expert Solution

Replacement Process:

When the delivered product is claimed incorrect in terms of size, color etc; defective or damaged; then a new order is placed for the same product with the seller. This process is termed as replacement.

Lets take an example of Flipcart:

Replacement process starts when you create a return by calling Cs support or by own through website. Depending upon your product category the return and replacement options are decided.

For example:

If you have ordered clothing and you find issue and if you want a different size of the same product you always can't depend on the availability of the size in case you have one optiona Refund.

But in case your replacement is approved i.e. size you want is avail then process goes further and the replacement product gets shipped you have to return the product.

How does replacement works?

Step 1. Replacement Requested

Step 2. Return process initiated

Step 3. Confirm and pack

Step 4. Request and pickup

Step 5. Courier assigned and order picked up

Step 6. Replacement Delivered

Functions Used in Replacement Process:

Replacement process used Page Replacement Algorithm:

  • Page replacement algorithm decide which memory pages to page out, sometimes called swap out.
  • Page replacement happens when a requested page is not in memory and a free page cannot be used to satisfy the allocation.
  • When the page is selected for replacement and paged out is referenced again it has to be paged in and this involves waiting for I/O completion.
  • It can be Local or Global.
  • Local: A local page replacement algorithm selects for replacement some page that belongs to the same process.
  • Global: It is free to select any page in memory.
