The American Dream is the belief that anyone, regardless of where they were born or what class they were born into, can attain their own version of success in a society where upward mobility is possible for everyone. The American Dream is achieved through sacrifice, risk-taking, and hard work, rather than by chance.The term was coined by writer and historian James Truslow Adams in his best-selling 1931 book "Epic of America." He described it as "that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement."
The American dream is not only for the Americans but the immigrants too need to achieve this dream. But the differences in the language and culture acts as obstacle for immigrants to achieve American dream. This is because as the immigrants arrive in America from different parts of the world so they all speak different languages and follow different cultures, this makes it difficult for them to adopt the language and culture of America. First of all if you want a job to earn your living, you need to intersect with people for this, but the intersection between the people is very difficult when their mother tongue is different and mostly when the immigrant doesn't know English, which is the primary language. So this makes it difficult for them to find a job or if they get one they are paid less as their productivity is less due to lack of communication. People form different parts of the world have different cultures and hence different believes so it is also very difficult for them to adapt a new lifestyle and different culture.
So due to this difference in language and culture of the immigrants it makes hard for them to achieve American dream, i.e. though they have the ability to do more in life but due to this obstacles they can't achieve or underachieve.
