Write the process of linear, non-cyclic electron flow in a paragraph.

(I think it is for photosynthesis, but I am not sure)

Solutions

Expert Solution

Yes, the question is asking about non-cyclic electron flow in photosynthesis.

Light energy is absorbed by the PS II which contains chlorophyll P680. Once they absorbs the energy electrons of PS II comes in excited state and starts moving in a non-linear fashion. The electron is transferred to pheophytin then to plastoquinone A and plastoquinone B respectively. From plastoquinone B the electron is transferred to cyt b6f complex and then to plastocynin. At the same time PS I absorbs the light and remove one electron, the removed electron to PS I is provided by the plastocynin which got the electron from PS II. The electron removed by PS I is transferred to a modified chlorophyll and then to phylloquinone. Phylloquinone transfer this electron to Fe-S proteins which in turn transfer the electron to ferrodoxin. Finally ferodoxin transfer this electron to NADP+ to convert it into NADPH.

The electron lost by PS II is gain by hydrolysis of water
