calculate the mass percent of oxalate ion in H2C2O4*2H2O and (NH4)2C2O4*H2O

calculate the mass percent of oxalate ion in H2C2O4*2H2O and (NH4)2C2O4*H2O

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) in H2C2O4*2H2O mass percentage of C2O4^-2   = (mass of C2O4^-2 / total formula mass) x100

                                                                                = (88/126) x100

                                                                                = 69.84%

2) in (NH4)2C2O4*H2O mass percentage of C2O4^-2   = (mass of C2O4^-2 / total formula mass) x100

                                                                                            = (88/142) x100

                                                                                            = 61.97%
