explain Water footprint concepts and its challenges in Oman.

Ans : Water footprint tells us about the amount of water utilized by based on the cosumption by the people . They also tells us about the water that is being utilized for the production of goods and services that we as humans are comsuming for our daily needs and healthcare . It has a particular amount or the data by which they can tell how much water is being utilized by which country . They also helps in the improvement of country`s better management of water resources . Various country`s have different amount of water footprints depending on the amount of water resources they require for the country for that they import those resources which also a key governing factor in global economy as well .

CHALLENGES IN OMAN :

• Due to extensive use of groundwater in oman , their water table has gone down . Which affects their sea water quality as well . Therefore they tend to import various water resources from other countries .
• Their was an increase in domestic water supply demand which lead to the low amount of conservation measures ,which lead to the increase in the amount of water supply .
• This is caused by the lack of public awarness and education about this , to tackle this issue various NGOs started campaign , government also issued various tv ads and radio shows etc for educating the people .
• They have launched various recommendation groups and divide the people on the basis of their need , which brings about the change in the quality of injected water . Because the collection of treated water was at the peak of their list .
• All the industries have been taught the use of renewable sources or energy so as to avoid this problem and reduce this shortage .
• Various Water management plans have been adopted which made the use of IWRM that is Integrated Water Resource Management rules and guidelines mandatory for all .
