TOXIC WASTE MANAGEMENT :

1) Major cause of toxic waste generated are electronic waste also called E- waste, it contains metal like Mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic and etc.

2) Using 3 R approach that is reduce-recycle-reuse

Reduce - Usage to electronic items should be limited as per requirement.

Recycle - Recycling or Refurbishing existing electronic items like mobiles, laptops and other gadgets.

Reuse - Parts of scrapped electronic item can be further used in repair of other electronic items.

3) Usage of Transient electronic items, these are products which dissolve into in the nature after their particular usage period is over.

4) Medical waste is waste generated from hospitals, clinics, health centre and etc. It contains toxic chemicals, heavy metals, and may contain substances that are genotoxic or radioactive, pathological waste, sharp needles, syringes, bulk human blood and blood products. Incinerators are the predominant way to treat medical waste.

5) Important toxic polluting industries are pulp, paper, mining, chemical, mechanical, cement and others. It's been observed that toxic chemicals are mixed with non-toxic chemicals and disposed in deep sea, rivers or barren land, There is need to segregate toxic chemicals at origin and use the approach of cradle to cradle to make sustainable environment.

6) Pesticides and other harmful organic waste can be decomposed using method of pyrolysis into solid residue of ash and carbon.
