Explain the traditional and technology-based training methods available for employees (exhibit 11-9). In your opinion which method(s) offers the best value in terms of accessibility, cost and ability to deliver information?
Traditional based training methods means instructor base training which is a learning practise between an instructor and a learner either in individual or groups. The Trainers or instructors are the experienced professionals with relevant knowledge to teach the employees. Whereas, Technology based Training is computer based which includes learning through web base applications or software’s, on internet, DVD or CV recorded training programmes, etc. Initially Cd’s and DVD’s were used but since internet has come, most of the training is being done online on the internet. It has become so simple that without any physical presence of instructor and learner, training can be effectively delivered.
In my opinion, Technology based Training is far better than the Traditional Training because easy accessibility and less cost. Technology based Training programmes are more successful in terms of retention rates as it creates interest of trainees through the use of videos, audios and illustrated examples. It also ensures timeliness and learning rate is much faster than the traditional method. The information is delivered much accurately without human error and updated content.
