The Duqm port in Oman which gave India a great support with it's
neighbouring countries.Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi
taken interest in foreign policy and has done
significant investments with effort in the Middle East.
India always tried to keep friendly approaches even with Middle
east countries. In 2015, there has been a tremendous growth in the
number of high profile visits to and from the region.
- In 2016, former Defense Minister of India Manohar Parrikar made a
visit to Muscat and discussed security and defense details. After
that he signed four MoUs related to defense cooperation.
- In February 2018, during PM Shri Narendra Modi’s visited
Oman, signed an annex to the already existing MoU on
military cooperation. This made Indian warships access to Duqm Port
in Oman.
In February 2018 India assured path to the Duqm Port in Oman for
military use and logistical
support. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the former Sultan of
Oman Sayyid Qaboos bin
Said Al Said signed an annexure to the MoU on Military cooperation
among these two countries. The services of Duqm Port and dry dock,
were made available for the maintenance of Indian military
uses.
In the Port of Duqm SEZ, Sebacic Oman, an Indo-Oman joint venture
is undertaking a USD 1.2
billion project to make the largest sebacic acid plant in the
Middle East zone.
Thus it became an agreement to develop Little India, an integrated
tourism complex project of approximately US$748 million.
