(1)Why isn't having the greatest amount of technical expertise the key to being a good supervisor at google?
(2) Does Google's research on the performance of its managers surprise you? why or why not?
1. Having a great amount of technical expertise doesn't guarantee that you would be fit to handle the responsibilities of a supervisor. What makes a supervisor better suited than other is the way they make their point, handle the situations, resolve conflict and essentially motivate their teams which have less to do with technical expertise and more to do with communication, management and leadership qualities.
2. No, I am not surprised by the amount of research Google performs on its managers. This is due to the fact that Google is in a position where their leadership depends upon the efficiency of their workforce. This is essentially the factor that can dictate how Google approaches an event or a case which might be a problem area for the entire firm. This is therefore the reason that effective management is necessary in order to allow the company to function at its most efficient and Google being the tech giant it is, cuts no corners when it comes to researching their managers to be able to successfully analyze their interests and competency and how one manager would be better to perform a certain task than the other.
