project proposed for sediments in water:

1: estimation of the lifetime of dam and reducing the accumulation of silt in the bed: the reservoir of hydroelectric power plan stores a lot of water still for long time which gives sediment a long time to settle increasing the bed height which is a problem for it. so you can work on the various methods to reduce or remove the settling of sediments.

2:studying sediment characteristics and flood plain made by rivers: river carries sediment which when reached in plain terrain gets accumulated to bottom or sides of river. by studying the sample from flood plain we can understand the the characteristics of sediment.

3: estimation of flood plain area variation using GIS tool: with the help of GIS software using land cover and land use we can identify the extent of flood plains made by a particular river and its tributories. the same analysis will also help you to understand the pattern of human settlement.

4: erosion and sediment control: rivers while meandering and flowing comes in contact with the river banks and removes soil by eroding the bank which in turn does erosion and sediment concentration in water increases which in turn can lead river to overshoot the banks and reach the low lying area. so a system to safe-guard the low lying area and soil  erosion can be developed.
