Which of the following is NOT one of the main end products of eukaryotic cellular aerobic respiration?
a)Pyruvate
b) O2
c) ATP
d) Starch
e)Chlorophyll
how?
Eukaryotic cells are those cells which contains organized nucleus and organelles which are enveloped by membrane bound organelles.
Examples : Plants , animals , fungi etc
Cellular aerobic respiration in eukaryotic cells in animals takes place by 3 mechanisms:
1. Glycolysis
The process takes place in the cytoplasm
Does not require oxygen
Produces 2 ATP + 2 NADH + Pyruvate from glucose
2. Krebs cycle
The process takes place in mitochondria
Requires oxygen
Produces CO2 + 2ATP + 2FADH2 + 6NADH
3. Electron transport chain
The process takes place in mitochondria
Requires oxygen
Produces water and 34 ATP
Cellular aerobic respiration in eukaryotic cells in plants takes place by:
Photosynthesis
Produces : Sugar (glucose ) + Oxygen
Hence from the above two processes on cellular respiration on animals and plants we can conclude that, Oxygen , ATP and starch ( sugar which is the end product of photosynthesis is immediately stored as starch ) are the main end products of eukaryotic cellular aerobic respiration
wheras Pyruvate ( end products of eukaryotic cellular anaerobic respiration ) and chlorophyll (the green pigment in plants which helps in photosynthesis)
