Joe is trying out a new ride-sharing app, and wonders whether its mean waiting time is less than the 5 minutes that his current app offers. After 30 ride shares, he records an average waiting time of 4.5 minutes, with a sample standard deviation of 3 minutes. (a) Compute the p-value of testing the null that the new app has a mean waiting time of at least 5 minutes. (Hint: in Excel, use the command T.DIST(x,degrees of freedom, true).) (b) What would be the p-values corresponding to each of the sample sizes n = 30, 31, , ..., 99, 100, if the sample mean and standard deviation would stay the same? Create a line plot of these p-values with the sample size on the horizontal axis. (c) What is the smallest sample size for which Joe can reject the null at significance level α = 0.10?
hii.. here i am using Excel to perform this problem but i am also providing the formulas manually which i am using.
we reject Ho when p value is less than alphe. therefore for smallest value of n when p value is less than 0.10 is n=61.
hii..i am providing the detailed answer to you. I hope you will understand well to answer. if you have any querry please ask by comment i will respond to you and please give your good rating to answer for providing the best quality answers in future. thanks....
