In modern times , a landmark includes anything which is easily recognizable such as a building or other structure specially used by tourists to identify a location or specific areas of a locality. Landmark is used to identify places having some specific physical features. Mainly landmarks are used by people to recognize an important place which can be either natural or manmade artificial structure. For example: 1. The Statue Of Liberty located in Newyork USA officially called liberty enlightening the world. However, the Monument is a structure or building that honour someone who has died in the past. Monument is mainly built for symbolic reasons or as a memorial to remember the great achievements done by some persons. Monument is built upon to remember someone who has an exceptional or proud achievement. For example-1.Washington Monument is built to remember & to pay homage to George Washington who is the first president of United States Of America. 2. The Taj Mahal is an exceptional & enduring Monument that signifies eternal love between emperor Shah jahan & his beloved wife queen Mumtaj Mahal. In conclusion we can safely give some point of difference between Landmarks & Monuments. Landmark is a natural or manmade structure used for navigation whereas a Monument is built for memorial or symbolic reasons. Monuments are designed to convey the message of historical or political significance whereas Landmarks symbolises certain ideas which help human civilization to grow & to understand values which guide the society for betterment.
