How to figure out haplotypes?
Site 1 Site 2 Site 3 Site 4
Mother GT AA GG AT
Father TT AG CT AA
Child 1 GT AA GT AT
Child 2 TT AA GT AA
Child 3 TT AG CG AA
The haplotypes for this specific type of sites can be known by using the recombination model. For each site in the mother and father you have to first cross each site and find out which is paternal site and maternal site.
For example if you take the site1 the mother has GT site and father has TT site and hence by recombining these we can get GT and TT. The bold sites represent the maternal site and paternal site is in normal site. So for each site I will be labelling the maternal site as bold and the paternal site as normal text. Kindly see in the table mentioned below for all the possible haplotypes:
Site 1 | Site 2 | Site 3 | Site 4 | |
Mother | GT | AA | GG | AT |
Father | TT | AG | CT | AA |
Child 1 | GT | AA | GT | AT or AT |
Child 2 | TT | AA | GT | AA or AA |
Child 3 | TT | AG | CG | AA or AA |
This haplotyping is same as punnet square analysis. I am drawing the punnet square for the first site as below:
FATHER\MOTHER | G | T |
T | GT | TT |
T | TT | TT |
