Solutions

Expert Solution

- Recovery of functions in an individual is dependent on the various factors and influences the extent of recovery in patient who have experienced any kind of brain damage or suffer from neurodegenerative disorders.

- Type of rehabilitation plays a major role in recovery of individuals as it is focused on the specific areas of individuals life and targets the particular symptoms that need to be managed, for example, individuals suffering from a spinal cord injury would recieve a specific kind of rehabilitation where the focus is on betterment of functioning of motor activities of patient and generating sensation with the help of medications or phsiotherapy etc. Another apt example would be a person suffering from any kind of neurodegenerative disorder like parkinson's disease. For such people, the rehabilitation programs emphasize more on functional aspect of daily routine in the individuals where they are made capable of atleast carrying out their day to day tasks and manage their symptoms ratherthan treating because over time they would inly get worse, so from begining they are tried to managed.

- Age is a vital influencing factor for recovery in patients because with age there are certain limitations that come into play which affects the recovery road of patients for instance, there are some medications which can not be administered on patients with oldage as they can have sideeffects which individuals cant take or may get worse in their condition. Also with age people develop conditions that have no treatment measures and are expected with increasing age for example, low metabolsim, decreased memory, forgetfulness, increased susceptibility to various conditions, decreased brain acticity, fragile bones, conditions like blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension, dementia, alzeihmers or parkinsons etc. All of such obstacles influence the recovery of functions in patients while people with average age or say young adults can recover more fast from TBIs or manage disooders better than oldage people.

- lesion momentum actually refers to the extenet of injury and the speed by which the lesion is increasing and is affecting the individual for example, metastatic tumor cells or specific brain lesion which is infecting other areas of brain as well. In such cases, individuals suffer more loss of functioning and endanger the chances of recovery by a great amount. Lesion momentum can create a lot of irreversible damage to the brain and bodily functioning which often leads to COMA or brain dead individuals.

trauma versus stroke damage is a considerable and a depending situation because it actually varies the kind of trauma experineced by the individuals and type of stoke experienced. Trauma can be of different types like brain trauma, spinal injury, head trauma,or mental/psychological trauma. Any truma that is related to brain can prove to be fatal to the individual as it includes open brain injury and closed as well. Whereas brain injuries can also lead to strokes in individuals, individuals can also develop different types of stroke via other means like genetic component or due to some other reasons. Strokes can be ishchemic, hemorrhagic, TBIs etc , so it is kind of inter-related phenomeon as strokes impact the individuals very seriously and are difficult to manage and definitely hard to recover from. Strokes are often treated by use of medications and surgeries of brain and lead to other stressful conditions in individuals life which makes the recovery process hard for individuals.
