Explain why there is a dichotomy in terms of men desiring a larger number of sexual partners while women are far more selective in their choice of sexual partners.

Men from the beginning of time were fighting for women. The characteristics of bravery, chivalry, fighting to win a women even at the risk of one’s life etc. are considered to be part and parcel of a male species. They have the innate characteristics of speed and urge. Their sexual urge is bigger and quicker than their female counterparts, besides, they don’t need to carry a life in them for 10 months. Their only job is to impregnate and move on and if possible provide for their creations.

For a female, selection of a partner based on certain qualities such as health, wealth and social status are really important. This make them go very choosy and selective. They want to bring healthy children who will sustain in this world with all the hardships they face. That’s why women are more selective, besides they are going to carry the life for the next 10 months and they are going to look after them.
