Give the facts of the charges of Obstruction of Justice and Perjury in the Barry Bonds case. Do you agree or disagree with the jury? Explain your answer.
Barry Bonds case and Balco is ones of the most famous and long running case of use of illicit drugs/doping of major athletes - of performance drugs. Barry bonds, a league player was implicated in the case of being a key player who had connected other players to his dealer Anderson.
Bonds in 2003 had testified that he was not to be held accountable for the doping charges as the cream that he was given by Anderson was, as per his knowledge, just nutrition and for arthritis. This later on lead to the charge of perjury (lying in court) and obstruction of justice and most of the evidence pointed at Bonds being complete aware of his actions and the nature of the 'products' he had been using. In fact he was testified against by his own girlfriend, who said that he was aware of everything and a part of it.
By the evidence stated above, some of which was inadmissible in court such as Anderson admitting on tape that Bonds was into illicit drugs, were proof on the gauss of which the court has decided to serve the perjury and obstruction of justice case - for binds refused to testify in front of the jury time and again without any important legal backing or excuse.
