2. Devise an experimental procedure to show that like charges repel and unlike charges attract.
Give step by step instructions for procedure
3. Devise a procedure to tell if a rod lying on an insulated pivot stand is neutral, positively charged, or negatively charged. Be sure that your test is unambiguous.
Give step by step instructions for procedure
Answer 2 : Following are the experimental procedure to show like charges repell each other.
Step 1 : Experiment For Repulsion
Step2 : Let one end of a rubber rod rubbed with fur and suspended freely, as shown in given diagram
. Step3 : When another rod is brought near it the suspended rubber rod turn away.
This experiment showing like charges repell each other.
Following are experiment to show unlike charge attract each other.
Step 1 : Experiment For Attraction
Step2 : If a Glass rod rubbed with silk and Rubber rod rubbed by fur. Due to wchich Glass rod acquire positive charge while Rubber rod acquire negative charge as shown in figure.
Step 3: When Glass rod brought near to Rubber rod we found that both rod comes close to each other or attract each other.
This Experiment shows unlike charges attract each other.
Answer 3: Here we have to find the that the rod which is kept lying on insulated pivoted stand are neutral, positive or negative charge.
Step 1: First we bring a positive charge rod (Glass Rod) near to the rod which is placed on insulated stand.
Step2: Observe that if placed rod attract toward glass rod or repell away from glass rod.
Step 3: If the placed rod attract towards Glass rod it means the given rod is neagative charge because we know that unlike attract each other.
Step4: If Placed given rod moves away from glass rod it signify that the rod is positive charge . Because we know that like charges repell each other.
Step5: If there if none effect is occcured it means the placed rod is Neutral in nature.
