Using diagrams, compare and contrast the anatomy of Sympathetic and Parasympathetic autonomic pathways of the peripheral nervous system. What characteristics are shared? Where do ganglia occur, and what neurotransmitters and receptors are present at the ganglionic and postganglionic synapses?
ans. 1) Sympathetic pathway and parasympathetic pathway are the two part of autonomic nervous system which help in maintaining body activities unconsciously. Sympathetic nervous system enhance the body activities for meeting the need of emergency such as fight and flight similarly some secretions of body are stop at that time ex- saliva secreation is stop at that time. Sympathetic pathway is fast while parasympathetic pathway work to bring the body to its normal condition after the emergency condition end. Parasympathetic is a slow process
