There are various specialized organs and glands all through the body which require their own specialized nutrition and oxygen supplies for the same reasons as the heart muscle — every aspect of their functions influence the functions of other organs and glands. It is all interconnected in one way or another? True or False

Solutions

Expert Solution

True.

Humans have system of organs that work together to carry out the process of life. The body has levels of organization that depend upon each other, for eg, cells make up tissue, tissue make up organs, organs make up organ system. The survival of the organism depends upon the coordinated activity of all organs, which are often coordianted by nervous and endocrine system.

Diferent system of our body are specalized to carry out different functions, for eg, muscular and skeletal muscles are important for movements, while the digestive system is involved in the processing of food, because of these specalizations function all the organs system are interdependent, the cells that make up the muscular system, reproductive system, circualtory system, excretory system, etc all nedd supply of oxygen from the respiratory system to function, while the respiratory system as well as other system needs nutrients and must be able to get rid of metabolic waste, so coordination of the organ system is necessary for the process of life.

An electric eel generates electric currents through its highly specialized Hunter's organ, in which thousands of disk-shaped cells called electrocytes are lined up in series, very much in the same way batteries are lined up inside a flashlight. When activated, each electrocyte can maintain a potential difference of about 150 mV at a current of 1 A for about 2.0 ms. Suppose a grown electric eel has 3.50 ✕ 103 electrocytes and can deliver up to 300 shocks in rapid...
