The social constructionist theory is the premise on basic assumption that the identity is socially constructed in the way we socialised alongside that the interactions we develop with the people help develop internal feelings of oneself. Both the social constructionist theories and interactionist theory allows understanding the interplay of the role of society and interaction which is implicit in the kinds of individuals in society. They work by highlighting the problems with forms of socialisation and interaction and seeks to improve in order to make better individuals. social construction as mentioned takes into account the various institutions and roles of society in making an individual makes sense of their world and this connects to Watzlawick's theory of behaviour. Just as social construction sees the individual as a product of various institutions where behaviour is a product, Watzlawick sees behaviour as a form of communication in and of itself. The communication through behaviour happens either on an explicit or implicit level.
