Fit y= Ax2 to the following data: (0.5, 0.7), (1, 3.4), (1.5, 7.2), (2, 12.4), (2.5, 20.1)
Hey everything can be found with just simple command in R.
The fitted regression equation will be y=0.974974+0.004223x2.
The residuals with respect to each of the five observations are given in the summary in R.
Also the F statistic 12.3 suggests that the regression is significant, that means x2 should be included in the model because the hypothesis that it's coefficient is 0 is rejected.
That means it's coefficient is not zero.
Also R2 is high, hence the fit is good or the change in y is explained well by x2.
R2 (for this model where there is only one regressor)is the change in y which is explained by the linear regression equation of y on x2.
