Ans:

Both Drum plants and Batch plants are used in the process of making asphalts mixtures.

  1. Batch plants used for making small batches where as Drum plants prepare the mix through a continuous process.
  2. In Drum plants there in no interruption in the production process and there is a continuous flow of aggregate and asphalt is there. But in the Batch plants the production is made through small batches repeatedly until the total quantiy for the project manufactured.
  3. In batch plants the weights of the material will be taken very accurately and based on the Job Mix Formula where as in the Drum plants calibrated feed belts are used for weighment of material.
  4. The mixing methods also different in both the plants , the paddles attached to the plant create the physical mixing in the batch plant and where as in the drum plant the mixing can be done due to the drum rotation.
  5. But there are some common components in the both plants which are storage silos , dust collection system , drying chamber etc.

Advantages of Batch Plants :

  1. This is the very flexible method when compared to both.
  2. The manufacturing product will be very accurate and with of very quality.
  3. The batch size and production capacity can be vary depends on the design.

Advantages of Drum Plants:
