Caspases: They are the proteolytic enzymes that play a significant role in the programmed cell death called apoptosis. Theyb got the name caspases because of their cysteine specific protease activity. It occurs throughout the life to maintain the homeostatsis of the cells. Their activation suggests that there is proper planned way of cell death without harming the neighbor cells. They got activated during stress signals and pathogenic attack. Their deficiency cause tumour development.
Complements: It is an important part of immune system helps in supporting the antibodies and phagocytic cells in enhancing their ability to eradicate microbes and other damaged cells and helps in promoting inflammation, and targets the cell membrane of the pathogens. They are small proteins present in the blood in inactive or semiactive form which upon action of some proteases gets activated. The complement system is a progressive cascade of the reactions leading to the stimulation of phagocytes
