For this assignment, you will devise a presentation that either proposes a product [broadly considered] or a proposal to modify an existing product to make it better or more cost-effective.
There are two types of proposal: internal and external.
- Internal proposals are composed from within the organization and address a specific problem or need of the organization.
- External proposals come from outside the organization and address a specific problem or need of the organization. These proposals are often competitive, in that, often, the organization will review multiple options for the most effective and cost-efficient solution. They can be 1) solicited, meaning that they address specifications provided by the organization; or 2) unsolicited, meaning that the specifications are not formalized in a Request for Proposal (RFP).

Ans: XYZ is a food processing(Fruit Pulp Based) company from North India and has been in operation for past 25 yrs having good reputation and business in Products like Fruit Juices,Jams etc.
With increasing competition from multinational companiea over last 5 years,sales as well as margins have taken a hit and they are trying to strategise on increasing sales of its most popular brand of fruit juice called Fruitpro and also look at reducing input and production costs.
Internal ideas were sought from senior employees by the management and following proposals came up:-
1.Introduction of multiple suppliers(against the current monopoly) for the fresh fruits required to manufacture Fruitpro so as to increase supplier competition and help to bring down prices.
2.As people have become more health conscious,to introduce sugar free and preservative free variants of Fruitpro.
3.Offer a new packing for fruitpro which is eco friendly and also looks modern to gain a better acceptance of brand from new generation of consumers.
Linked to the above ideas,the management of XYZ Ltd started to seek proposals from new suppliers for the above projects to study the complete feasibility of the same and keeping the medium term and long term plans of the company.
Post Evaluations of solicited proposals as well as the RFPs from various important value chain members of XYZ,the projects were implemented on a war footing and the results were excellent as seen in the following outcomes shared below:-
1.Fruitpro Sugarfree & preservative free juice variants registered a sales of $250000 in the first 3 months of launch.
2.The manufacturing cost of Fruitpro was brought down by 10% despite improving the packing to an eco-friendly due to multiple vendors on board.
3.Sales of other brands of XYZ also showed an increase based on the strong brand growth shown by Fruitpro.
Fruitpro truly became a huge success story for XYZ Ltd and their fast response time to face the market challenges and moving ahead was truly commendable.
