The steps in the planning process:-

?Develop objectives:-This involves determining what ought to be accomplished after a certain period of time. In the case of a private higher education institution, its short term objective is to get as many students as possible while it overall mission is to ensure they disseminate quality education to the benefit of this students.

?Developing tasks to meet objectives:- This involves creating the steps that one ought to follow regularly in order to accomplish the goals they set in 1 above. To register as many students as possible the institution should establish the number of intakes it can handle in a year and the number of students to register in every intake. similarly, to ensure they disseminate education to very many people it could establish satellite campuses in every state.

?Resources required to meet the tasks:- planning involves establishing the resources required to meet objectives. the private higher education institution should for example establish the capital resources to establish satellite campuses. it can as well establish the human as well as information resources to meet the needs of students.

?Create a timeline:- This involves coming up with a schedule of how tasks should be performed and establishing the time to meet the preset objectives. the institution can thus establish a time frame; for example say, " to reach a student population of 200,000 by 2020"

?Track and assess:- To ensure that objectives are met, controls are required in order to evaluate if one is on course or off the course. the institutions should thus come up with systems to check on quality. like it should come up with policies on plagiarism, similarly, it can track the number of students they are enrolling and come up with corrective measures if they seem to be of the course.

?Implementing the plan:- The plan acts as a framework, implementation however involves doing the day to day to day activities as stipulated in the plan. the institution should thus go on with their business but stick t the preset objectives in the plan as well as the tasks needed for accomplishing it.
