Solutions

Expert Solution

Stereophysical organic chemistry is the study of the three‐dimensional structure of molecules,. Stereoisomers has different types of physical and chemical properties.

Purpose of studying the Stereophysical organic chemistry :

a) Stereophysical organic chemistry is the study of the three‐dimensional structure of molecules. With the exact study of the three‐dimensional structure of molecule, hybridisation of the molecule can be predict.

b) With three‐dimensional study of a molecule, we can calculate the deviation of bond angle, bond length, preferable position of lone pair from the exact value or position.

c) Stereophysical organic chemistry provides the the symmetry element present inside the molacule, like : plane of symmetry, chiral axis, centre of symmetry, rotational axis of symmetry etc. With the help of symmetry element, number of siganals in Spectrum can be predict. Linear and non linear molecule has different number of IR acive mode as they has different vibrational degrees of freedom.
