1. Planning for the global workforce is extremely significant and challenging. With cross border movement and communication becoming easier with the latest technologies, so it becomes critical that the worforce forecast is not restricted to a geography locally, but rather spreads across the globe. Planning becomes a challenge, as the skillset of the resources in different regions differ and the quality and work environment and the perception of the compnay in that region also plays an importatnt role.
2. Countries are losing critical talent belong to the STEM ( science, technology an mathematics) to other regions. This is hampering the indigenoues reserach and developmnet sectors, hence impcating the technology growth and the revenues by reduced exports.
1. For a foreign assignment, the language support is critical if english does not happen to be a major language. A breifing about the culture of the couontry, to whom the visit is being made so that no cultural issues are experienced. A support for a family member to move along. if it is a long term project would be critical.
2. A person who either has the understanding / belongs to the geogpahy he / she is being picked for would be the best fir. The understanding of the market, people, culture would go a long way in establishing deep relations and understanding to a large extent the nature of operations in the country.
3. The challenge with the international assignees, is to ensure that they are engaged with the work and the foreign trip does not become a leisure trip. Though emotional support, by helping a family member/ spouse go along help keeps the motivation levels higher yet the foul usage of the foreign assignment is difficult to monitor.
